The vision for Buttercream Baby started in 1998 while we were pregnant with our first child and living in the gorgeous beach city on the coast of Los Angeles, California: Hermosa Beach, which means "Beautiful Beach". It truly is one of the most beautiful places in the world! Being pregnant, I began to notice all the quaint boutiques that line the beach, and noticing all their one of a kind custom brands, often made by local "Angelino's" meaning Native's of Los Angeles.The quality was so luxurious, and all one of a kind! When we found out we were having a daughter, we began to purchase these darling clothing treasures, building our babies "Trousseau" of one of a kind outfits to wear!

We then got an unexpected transfer to Toledo, Ohio, and 7 months pregnant with our first baby, we left our little beach home and headed for the snow in the Midwest! We made wonderful friends, and  I found our new small town in the Midwest had such nice people, the "Salt of the Earth" when it came to wonderful souls, but unfortunately not the place to shop! Each time we were invited to a party or shower, we always came with a one of a kind gift from all of our fun trinkets and treasures that we found living in Hermosa/Manhattan Beach!

We were always asked how we found such unique items, and we always told everyone "The Beach". Being new parents from that point on, we always looked for original items whenever we traveled to bring home and to store as gifts for house warming parties, adult and children's birthday parties, baby showers, and any occasion that would require a gift. Whenever we traveled, as our new town was limited in shopping, we had to rebuild our gift drawer with more unique items from cities that carried all the one of a kind items that we couldn't find at home!

I then decided that the area that we lived in needed the ability to purchase the same one of a kind custom brands, so we decided an online gift shop would be ideal, as the internet creates access for people all over the world!

While my husband, daughter and I would be visiting my old "Singleton Days" town of Chicago, Illinois, as a mother and wife, I started noticing all the unique gifts available for families that I never noticed as a single girl in the city! At that point I began a collection of designer brands that I had found in California and Illinois making it my mission to search all over the States and abroad to find more designers who make unique, one of a kind items! We had yet another transfer, this time back to California ( much to our relief as we so missed the beach!) We settled in the city of Irvine, 11 miles off the coast of Newport Beach, California! We then became pregnant with our second child, and the search was on to find even more unique items. 

Along the way, we have had some bumps in the road with yet another move and settling in another Southwestern town, but I always kept the idea alive and ready to go for the time that I could open up our online gift boutique, where all our treasures from the search that began eight years ago, can all take form.
